As We Grow
My artwork takes a critical view of social, personal experience and culture issue. Some of my subject matter is about people's daily routines and a comment on human nature. People began to face social pressure as young as in their 20’s. We need to have mental preparation to enter the society whilst we lost our childhood and also try accept all the facts in the world. People from all around us will assume that we are acting like clowns but we just only can force a smile to accept life and our future that comes with harsh reality.
The hat and the background is a representation of clowns characteristic as when we enter the society, we are the newbies in town and will be easily manipulated by other who has more working experience in the society. The hand gestures represents that we may encounter a lot of problems and our responsibility is increase with a fake happy face, we are slowly changing into people who are just smiling on the outside and not in the inside.
